QUESTION POSED ON: 24 January 2004
Is it possible to have a Win2k service access a mapped drive? I know it's a bit obscure, but this is the task I have been sent. The instance is I have one server running an application and I need the service to output info log to a mapped drive. I would appreciate any advice.

EXPERT RESPONSE
Win2K terminal services does not natively support drive mapping. RDPClip, from the Windows 2000 Server Resource Kit tools, emulates drive mapping. You can also get third-party tools like triCerat's Simplify Data Transfer to enable drive mapping for Win2K Terminal Services. Alternatively, you can share the client-side drive and perform net use from within the terminal session to connect to it.
